About This Spot

Stepping into Island Manapua Factory feels like entering a beloved neighborhood kitchen where traditions unfold quietly but with deep care. The pace here is unhurried yet lively, a modest space humming with the warm familiarity of a family’s touch. It’s the kind of place where the scent of fresh dough and savory fillings greets you instantly, inviting you to pause and savor the simple pleasure of hand-crafted comfort foods.

The atmosphere is easygoing and welcoming, guided by the gentle smiles of the team who clearly take pride not just in their craft but in sharing a piece of their heritage. This is not a polished, sit-down restaurant—Island Manapua Factory is a destination for those moments when you’re drawn to something truly authentic, a quick but soulful bite that carries memories of island kitchens and family gatherings.

Tucked away along Gulick Avenue in Honolulu, this local spot has quietly built a reputation for manapuas and baos that are anything but ordinary. Whether you’re reaching for a warm pork hash manapua or a layered rice cake, the experience is about discovering subtle layers of flavor and texture that speak to an unbroken line of tradition. Beyond the manapuas, you’ll find an array of comforting treats like roast duck baos, crispy wontons, and noodle rolls that invite sharing, encouraging connection over casual bites.

There’s a rhythm here that’s both nostalgic and present—each item thoughtfully prepared and passed along with a smile, reflecting a deep-rooted aloha spirit. For those who come by regularly or stumble upon the factory for the first time, there’s an overarching sense of warmth and community that lingers long after the last bite. Island Manapua Factory isn’t just about food; it’s about those human moments that turn a simple stop into a small celebration of island life.

Island Manapua is a small family owned establishment that is extremely good and very consistent. This place has the best Pork Hash that I have ever eaten, and it doesn't end there. They offer a variety of items, and everything that I tried was great. The staff was very friendly and generous. This is not a sit down and eat type of establishment, but it is great if you're on the go and looking for delicious quick food. Island Manapua Factory has become a staple for me every time I go to oahu, I'm addicted to their Pork Hash! Prices are great, and you get plenty of food to fill you up!

I made a large order of Baked Manapuas (Char Sui Pork, Kalua Pork, Curry Chicken) and the Bao Bun Platter yesterday for a work event, and the food was unbelievable. The manapuas were so delicious, and almost every single person couldn't stop talking about how good they were. When locals tell you that its some of the best manapua they've ever tried, that tells you A LOT. Thank you so much Elaine for the great service, and for the amazing quality of the food, especially the manapuas! Like i told you in person - DO NOT CLOSE DOWN. Mahalo!

Today I was craving for some local favorites and I was just happen to be in Kalihi area and remembered that the Island Manapua Factory was nearby, so I went to where my temptation was guiding me to. Yes, I got here and bought rice cake, pork hash, half moon, steamed char siu manapua, and peking duck bun with the workers recommendation. And they were all great, my craving was satisfied. Their friendly service was nice also. This place is highly recommended for everyone when you have that craving for the local goodies.

I wanted a snack and passed by the place and decided to try the manapua here. Hubby and I got the baked hot dog manapua. It would have been good if it was hot. I thought it was warm but it was cold. Service was good. There are no place to sit inside but they do have tables outside,
